How to use it
How to Spin a Random Word
- Pick a list from the Quick lists, such as Nouns, Pictionary or Categories.
- Or make your own word wheel: clear the box and type your words, one per line. Your list stays saved in this browser.
- Want two or three words? Turn on “Remove winner after each spin” and spin again, so the same word can’t come up twice.
- Mix lists by spinning one word from Adjectives and one from Nouns, like “sparkly dragon”.
- Put it on the board with Full screen for class or a party.
What makes it different
Curated Words, Not Random Junk
Many random word generators pull from a huge dictionary, so you get words that are obscure, hard to draw or not suitable for children. Every list here was chosen for a job: drawable objects for Pictionary, clear actions for charades, early sight words for reading practice, and evocative words for songs and stories.
Each spin is drawn with your browser’s secure random number generator, and every word has the same chance. See how our draws work.
Games
Word Wheel Games to Play
Pictionary
Spin a word from the Pictionary list, show it to one player, and give them 60 seconds to draw it while their team guesses. No letters or numbers in the drawing.
Charades
Spin from the Charades list and act it out without speaking. Set a timer and swap teams after each round.
Category game
Spin a category, then spin our letter wheel for a starting letter. Everyone writes as many answers as they can in 60 seconds, like animals starting with B.
Three-word story
Spin three times with no repeats and tell or write a story that uses all three words. Great as a warm-up or a 10-minute writing task.
Word association
Spin a word, then go round the group saying the first related word that comes to mind. Anyone who pauses for more than 3 seconds is out.
Describe it
Spin a noun and describe it without saying the word while others guess. Spin an adjective first to make it harder: describe a “gigantic” or “sticky” version.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make my own word wheel?
Clear the word box and type your words, one per line, or paste a list. The wheel updates as you type and saves your list in this browser. Press Copy share link to send it to someone else.
How can I generate two random words?
Turn on “Remove winner after each spin”, then spin twice. You get two different words, and the Results tab keeps both.
Are the words safe for kids?
Yes. Every ready-made list is family-friendly and classroom-safe.
Can some words come up more often?
Yes. Add *2 after a word to give it two chances, or set an exact share with *25%. See the wheel with percentages.
What are sight words?
Common words that early readers learn to recognise on sight. The list here is the Dolch pre-primer list, which has been in the public domain for decades.
How many words can I add?
As many as you like. Lists of several hundred words still spin smoothly.
Is the word picked at random?
Yes. Every word is drawn with your browser’s secure random number generator before the wheel moves.
