How to use it
How to Draw a Raffle in Four Steps
- Choose how tickets were sold. Use “Names and ticket counts” for online or sign-up sales, or “Numbered paper tickets” for a roll of cloakroom-style tickets.
- Enter the tickets. Write one buyer per line with their count, like
Anna 5, or enter the first and last ticket number and list any unsold ones to leave out, like401-500. - List your prizes in the order you’ll draw them. Many events draw the smallest prize first and the grand prize last.
- Press Draw the raffle. You get a table of prizes, winning ticket numbers and holders, plus a fingerprint of the ticket list and a draw record link.
Why it’s fair
How the Draw Works
- Every ticket counts once. Someone with 5 tickets has 5 chances, exactly as if 5 stubs were in the drum.
- Secure randomness. Each winning ticket is picked with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator. See how our draws work.
- Winning tickets come out of the draw. A ticket can only win one prize. Turn on “One prize per person” and a winner’s other tickets come out too.
- Checkable afterwards. The ticket list gets a SHA-256 fingerprint, and the draw record link opens on our draw checker so buyers can confirm nothing changed.
What makes it different
Built for Real Raffles
Ticket numbers, not just names
Buyers are given ticket numbers in list order, such as Anna #1–#5. Winners are announced by ticket number, which is how most raffles are run, and the holder is shown next to it.
Prizes in your order
List every prize and each is drawn in turn from the tickets still in the draw. No need to spin once per prize and keep track by hand.
No entry limit, no fee
Some raffle tools are free only up to 100 entries. This one draws from up to 100,000 tickets in your browser at no cost, and nothing is uploaded.
Paper ticket ranges
Sold tickets 1 to 400 from a roll of 500? Enter 1 to 500 and leave out 401-500. Lost or void tickets can be listed one by one.
50/50 maths built in
Add a ticket price and the result shows total ticket sales and what half the pot would be, so 50/50 winners can be announced straight away.
Live on the big screen
With names and counts, “Spin the tickets on the wheel” opens our wheel with each buyer weighted by their tickets, for a visual draw at the event.
Odds
What Are the Chances of Winning a Raffle?
With one prize, the chance is simply your tickets divided by all tickets sold. Ten tickets out of 500 sold is a 2% chance.
With several prizes and no ticket winning twice, the chance of winning at least one is a little less than tickets × prizes ÷ tickets sold. With 10 of 500 tickets and 3 prizes, it’s 5.89%. With 5 of 500 tickets and 5 prizes, it’s 4.92%.
“One prize per person” doesn’t change anyone’s chance of winning the first prize drawn. It only means a winner can’t also win a later prize, which slightly raises everyone else’s chances for the prizes after.
Before you sell
Check the Rules Where You Are
Selling tickets for a chance to win a prize usually counts as a lottery or gambling, so raffles are regulated in most places. In the US, rules are set by each state, and nonprofits often need a permit. In Great Britain, a small raffle at a one-off event can run without a licence if it follows the Gambling Commission’s limits.
Our guide on how to run a fair raffle covers the legal basics, tax reporting on big prizes, and how to run the draw so nobody can question it. This page is a drawing tool, not legal advice.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this raffle generator free?
Yes. No sign-up, no fee and no entry limit up to 100,000 tickets.
How do I give someone more chances?
In names mode, write the number of tickets after their name, like Anna 5. Each ticket is a separate chance.
Can one ticket win more than one prize?
No. A winning ticket leaves the draw. With “One prize per person”, all of that person’s other tickets leave the draw too.
What order should raffle prizes be drawn in?
It’s up to you, but say it in your rules. Many events draw the smallest prize first and the grand prize last, which keeps people in the room. List prizes in the order you want them drawn.
Can I leave out unsold tickets?
Yes. In numbered-ticket mode, list unsold or void tickets as single numbers or ranges, like 37, 401-500.
How do buyers know the draw was fair?
Share the draw record link. It opens our verify page with the winning tickets, the time and the full ticket list, and anyone can check the list’s fingerprint.
Can I run a 50/50 raffle with this?
Yes. Enter your tickets, add the ticket price, list one prize such as “50/50 prize”, and draw. The result shows ticket sales and half the pot.
Is the result random?
Yes. Every ticket in the draw has the same chance, using your browser’s secure random number generator.
