How it works
How to Use the Decision Maker
A decision maker wheel picks one option at random from the choices you give it. It works best when every option on the wheel is one you’d genuinely be happy with.
1
List your options
Replace the sample ideas with your own, one per line. Two options work, and so do twenty.
2
Cross off the no-gos
Delete anything you’d be unhappy to land on. If you’d re-spin to avoid it, it shouldn’t be on the wheel.
3
Spin
Click the wheel or press Spin. The choice is drawn securely before the wheel turns.
4
Commit
Go with the result, or agree on best of three before you start. The Results tab keeps count.

Three Ways to Decide With a Wheel
Pure random
Every option gets the same chance. Ideal when you honestly don’t mind, like picking a takeaway or a board game.
Weighted by preference
Like one option more? Add *2 or *3 after it. It becomes more likely without taking the others away. Turn on “Show each entry’s chance” to see the exact odds.
Best of three
Spin three times and go with whatever comes up most. With no repeats turned off, the Results tab shows the tally with times, so the count is honest.
When it helps
When a Random Decision Maker Helps
- Small, frequent choices. What to eat, what to watch, which errand first. Saving your energy for decisions that matter is the point.
- Ties. When two options score the same on paper, a spin is a fair way to move on.
- Group arguments. Everyone can see the wheel and the odds, so nobody can say the decision was rigged.
- Getting started. Some people find it easier to begin a task when a wheel picks the first one from their to-do list.
When it doesn’t
When You Shouldn’t Let a Wheel Decide
A wheel can’t weigh evidence. Don’t use it for decisions about health, money, safety, legal matters or anything that’s hard to undo. Use it to choose between options you’ve already checked are all fine.
Only two options?
Use the yes or no wheel for a quick 50/50, or put both options here.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a decision maker wheel work?
You add your options, the wheel draws one at random with your browser’s secure random number generator, and then animates to that option.
Is it really random?
Yes. Each option has an equal chance unless you add extra chances with *2 or more. You can run 10,000 test spins in the Fairness tab to check.
Can I make one option more likely?
Yes. Add *2, *3 and so on after it. The wheel segment grows and the exact percentage shows when you turn on “Show each entry’s chance”.
What if I don’t like the result?
That’s useful information: you may prefer another option. Remove the one you didn’t want, or decide with best of three agreed in advance.
How many options can I add?
There’s no fixed limit. Every option stays in the draw even when the list is too long to print each name on the wheel.
Does it remember my options?
Yes, in your own browser. This page keeps its own list. Press “Reset list” to bring back the sample ideas.
